What is Actar?

Actar is a biotechnology company performing drug development.

Our business concept is to take an active position in the empty “seed gap” area, the “noman's-land” between the world of academic research and the point at which venture capital companies become interested, creating value within 3-5 years by providing industrial experience, management and funding and aiming for “proof-of-concept” development goals.

The present business strategy is to work with projects that eventually will transform into subsidiaries, that can raise their own funding when promising hits have been identified, and subsequently be divested to the pharmaceutical industry.

The Actar AB Business Concept is Unique

Actar AB is the final step in the innovation system of Karolinska Institutet. Actar AB is open to researchers from all universities, and is continuously seeking new projects. Since the start 2003, Actar AB has successfully collaborated with world-class researchers and made substantial progress in developing compounds active against target molecules. Todate, Actar AB is running five individual projects in collaboration with the founding researchers.
